PROMISE #27 - JANUARY 27
Promise #27:
I will guard those with a childlike heart.
Psalm 116:6 (WEB)
Yahweh preserves the simple.
I was brought low, and he saved me.
The New Living Translation Bible says Psalm 116:6 this way... The Lord protects those of childlike faith; I was facing death, and he saved me. (NLT) In Luke 18:15-17, Jesus tells His disciples that the kingdom of God belongs to little children; unless they change and become like little children themselves, they would not be able to enjoy its benefits.
The reality of today's promise is that Fathers protect their children. It is not some great miracle they do because that is what good fathers do. Today's promise tells us that God protects those who trust in Him with the simple heart of a child. Having the heart of a child is not limited to those who are physically little. No matter how old we become, God is much older than us! The Bible describes God as being The Ancient of Days.
While we are not called to be childish, we are encouraged to be childlike. Little children are completely dependent on their parents for everything. To be fed, to be clothed, to be protected, everything. Without their parents' care, they are completely vulnerable. When we trust our God and Father with a child's simple heart, I believe He responds by being our safe place and our defender in every situation.

Responsive Prayer:
Father, thank you for loving and protecting the little child that still lives within me. Even though I have grown up on the outside, you still love the little me on the inside, and your fathering love will keep me safe today. Help me to trust in you with all my heart and not lean to my own understanding because I know you have promised to meet all my needs.
In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
I will guard those with a childlike heart.
